Some of your duties include:
With a tunnel boring machine, professionals drill (micro) tunnels with diameters of up to 4 metres over lengths of e.g. 1 km. More information is available at https://www.k-boringen.com/ To carry out our drilling operations throughout Europe (mainly Belgium), we are still looking for motivated, competent employees with a sense of responsibility and adventure (and want to work at lodging Monday to Friday). Our target group are employees who want to work, especially on location abroad, who are flexible and have language skills.
A tunnel worker works on the construction, renovation and maintenance of tunnels. This is a physically demanding job in often challenging working conditions, such as underground and in tight spaces. The duties of a tunnel worker can vary depending on the type of project, but typically include the following:
Main tasks:

Site preparation
- Installing safety devices and barriers
- Checking and maintaining tools and machines
- Assisting in setting up the tunnel boring machine (TBM) or other equipment

Drilling and excavation work
- Working with tunnel boring machines, excavators or hand tools
- Removal of soil and rock
- Reinforcing the tunnel walls

Installation of pipes and structures
- Laying and connecting pipes and cables
- Installation of concrete or metal tunnel rings
Your profile
Basic requirements:
- Knowledge of hydraulics, welding and burn is a plus
- A good knowledge of electricity is a must.
- Detecting all kinds of malfunctions are a challenge for the ideal candidate.
- Preferably a first work experience as a labourer and flexible attitude
- You are willing to perform physical and dirtier work (but not in a hurry - rather execute quietly)
- You do not suffer from claustrophobia
- Fluent in Dutch (additional languages are an asset); if you can communicate well in English, German or French, you may also be considered
- Flexibility, towards location and timetable.
Additional info:
- You work mainly nationally; but also regularly in one of Belgium's neighbouring countries (NL, DU, etc)
- You work at lodging from Monday-Friday. On weekends, you will go home (per day of lodging, you will also receive compensation).
- You do not work every week of the year; but with busy periods (when execution happens effectively) and less busy periods
- Driving licence not required
